Franz Ferdinands back with August album release

This August 26, four years after "Tonight," Franz Ferdinand will be putting out a new opus called "Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action" on Domino Records. The Glaswegian rock band says this one recaptures the creative spark and vivaciousness of their eponymous and now cult debut album of 2004.

The music was recorded in various locations: at frontman Alex Kapranos's studio in Scotland, at guitarist/keyboardist Nick McCarthy's Sausage Studios, at Club Ralph in London, as well as in Stockholm and Oslo.

This fourth studio album comprises ten tracks. It will be coming out on CD, on a deluxe limited-edition double CD, in a digital version and, according to their website, on a "180 gram virgin double heavyweight vinyl LP packaged in a lavish, hand numbered die-cut gatefold sleeve." And the album can already be pre-ordered on Domino Records's web site.

The deluxe double CD and double LP editions contain the live recording from Konk Studios in London. And then there's a "Passport Edition" of "Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action" limited to 500 copies worldwide, vaunted as "a deluxe edition of each physical format of the album, all 7" and 12" singles and access to the highest quality audio files possible as well as exclusive tracks and content." "This," concludes the sales pitch, "is the definitive listening experience of the album."

Franz Ferdinand, one of the pre-eminent bands in the British rock scene, has enjoyed worldwide success ever since their single "Take Me Out" made the charts in 2004. The band members are Alex Kapranos, Nick McCarthy, Bob Hardy and Paul Thomson.
