Teenager's legs chewed by mysterious sea creature

Sam will have to use a wheel chair for the time being until his wounds heal.
A 16-year-old teenager had his feet chewed up by hundreds of sea lice at the Dendy Street beach in Brighton, Melbourne.
Sam Kanizay was soaking his feet inside the water after a football match when 30-minutes later, he saw his feet bloody, The New York Times reported.
Shocked at the state of his son's legs, his father Jarrod Kanizay rushed him to a hospital.
Photos of his bloodied legs have since gone viral on social media.
Sam was given antibiotics transferred to another hospital for further tests.
However, doctors are unable to explain what happened to the teenager.
Unhappy, Jarrod went back to the scene to do his own investigation. He dropped a piece of raw steak into the water and saw hundreds of tiny sea creatures feasting on it.
He posted a video of it on Youtube.
University of New South Wales associate professor, Alistair Poore, who was interviewed by the NYT said the animals in the video were not sea lice, but another group of small scavengers called amphipods, which are not known to bite humans.
“You can attract a lot of animals in the sea with raw meat. Even though it’s interesting, it doesn’t prove to me they were the ones that bit his legs,” Dr Poore said.
