Indonesia's Riau today declared a state of emergency due to worsening weather due to forest fires in the province.
According to Indonesian news portal Detiknews, Riau’s Gabenor Arsyadjuliandi Rachman said the state of emergency was declared after a meeting with Riau's governor and city's top official following the increase of API to 300.
Arsyadjuliandi was quoted as saying the air quality has deteriorated in several areas including Pekanbaru, Kampar, Siak, Dumai, Rokan Holir and Bengkalis.
He said the matter has been informed to Indonesian Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar.
In Malaysia, the haze is worsening with plans for cloud seeding on Tuesday.
