A Japan Airlines plane caught fire on the runway at Tokyo's Haneda airport on Tuesday.
A Japan Airlines spokesman said the plane, which had come from Shin-Chitose airport in Hokkaido, was carrying more than 300 passengers.
Public broadcaster NHK said all Japan Airlines says all 379 people on board - passengers and crew - were evacuated.
The cause of the fire remained unknown, but Nippon TV reported that there may have been a collision between the Japan Airlines plane and a Japan Coast Guard aircraft.
A Japan Coast Guard official says six people were on board the other plane. One evacuated, but details about the others are unknown.
According to local media reports, the plane caught fire from the rear of the fuselage as it landed.
