Indonesian state assembly speaker detained, tested positive to drugs

The head of the Sarolangun State Legislative Assembly (DPRD) in Jambi, Muhamad Syaihu was detained by police yesterday after a urine test found him to be drug positive.
Local media today quoted Kota Jambi police chief, Bernard Sibarani, as saying the assemblyman was detained together with seven of his friends during a raid on a house in Kampung Bungis, Kota Baru in Kota Jambi as they were believed to be gathering for a drug smoking session.
The head of the DPRD is equivalent to a Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly in Malaysia.
He said that following the raid, police found a packet believed to contain the syabu drugs weighing 4.3 grams as well as several apparatus for smoking drug.
He said all those detained were aged between 22 and 42 years old and one of them was a government official.
