Pengacara Oscar, Chris Rock mengundang kemarahan netizen apabila melakukan gurauan stereotaip terhadap orang Asia, ketika mengacarakan majlis Anugerah Academi yang ke-88 itu, semalam.
Nampaknya ramai pihak tidak selesa apabila Chris memperkenalkan tiga kanak-kanak warga Asia sebagai "wakil" firma akaun, Price Waterhouse Cooper (PWC) , iaitu firma kewangan yang bertanggungjawab mengendalikan undian Oscar.
Chris mengundang tiga kanak-kanak yang berpakaian seperti ahli perniagaan ke pentas dengan berkata, “Mereka menghantar kita tiga wakil yang paling berdedikasi, tepat dan yang bekerja keras.
“Sila alukan Ming Zhu, Bai Ling dan David Moskowitz,” kata Rock.
"Jika ada sesiapa yang kecewa tentang gurauan ini, anda boleh tweet mengenainya menerusi telefon bimbit anda yang juga dibuat oleh kanak-kanak ini,” gurau Chris.
Susulan itu, rata-rata netizen mengecam Chris dengan menyifatkan ia sebagai satu gurauan yang sensitif.
Ramai yang berpendapat Chris tidak sepatutnya bergurau mengenai isu buruh kanak-kanak di kalangan orang Asia, yang nyata ia adalah satu rujukan stereotaip.
