COVID-19: Thailand records 166 new cases, zero deaths Sunday

BANGKOK: Thailand recorded 166 new COVID-19 cases and zero deaths over the last 24 hours, bringing the total infections in the kingdom to 24,571 cases and 80 fatalities.
The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said in a statement today that of the new cases, 138 cases were local transmissions - 89 through active case detection and 49 were those seeking treatment at hospitals. Another 28 were imported cases.
It said mass testing found 67 cases in Pathum Thani, 11 in Samut Sakhon, seven in Tak, three in Rayong and one in Nonthaburi.
“The health authorities are stepping up active case detection in the Pathum Thani province following new cases detected at the Pornpat fresh market in Thanyaburi district last week,” it said.
The Pathum Thani Communicable Disease Committee has ordered two markets -- Pornpat and Suchart -- in Thanyaburi to close until Tuesday. To date, a total of 173 COVID-19 cases had been reported in the province.
