COVID-19: No local transmissions in Thailand for 14 days

Thailand has reported seven new COVID-19 cases, all Thai returnees undergoing a 14-day quarantine at state quarantine facilities and zero fatalities over the last 24 hours, making it 14 days without a local transmission in the kingdom.

Since the outbreak in January, Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) spokesman Thaweesilp Wissanuyothin said, Thailand has recorded 3,119 COVID-19 cases, with 58 deaths.

“Thailand has reported 77 cases in the last two weeks and all were Thai nationals who returned from abroad,” he said at the daily COVID-19 briefing here today.

Thaweesilp said the seven new COVID-19 cases comprised four Thais who returned from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), including an 11-year-old boy, two Thai students who returned from Pakistan and one Thai female who came back from the United States.

“All patients showed no symptoms,” he said.

He said that since April 3, a total of 34,965 Thais returned from overseas and 25,201 of them have completed the 14-day quarantine at state facilities.
