SYDNEY: Australia will withdraw its remaining 80 military personnel in Afghanistan, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Thursday, after the United States announced it would pull out from the country to end its longest war.
"In line with the United States and other allies and partners, the last remaining Australian troops will depart Afghanistan in September 2021," Morrison told reporters in Perth.
On Wednesday, President Joe Biden said the United States would withdraw all its 2,500 troops left in Afghanistan by Sept. 11, exactly 20 years after al Qaeda's attacks triggered the war.
