Samsung has stopped all sales of the Galaxy Note7, after 35 cases were reported globally as of Sept 1, of an issue related to the battery cell.
"We are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify the possible affected batteries in the market.
"However, because our customers' safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7," Samsung Malaysia Electronics said in a statement here.
The company said it would also voluntarily replace current devices from those who already have the Galaxy Note7 with a new one over the coming weeks.
Customers may contact the Samsung Malaysia Careline at 1-800-88-7799 for further enquiries of their current Galaxy Note 7 device before any replacement takes place.
"We will work to ensure the replacement experience is as convenient and efficient as possible," the company said.
On Friday, Samsung said it would suspend sales of its Galaxy Note 7 as reports of exploding batteries threatened to damage the reputation of the South Korean electronics giant.
