The ringgit extended its last week's losses to open lower today as more currency investors shifted to the greenback, said a dealer.

At 9.10am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.3000/3060 against the greenback from 4.2560/2610 on Friday.

The ringgit was also traded lower against other major currencies.

It declined against the Singapore dollar to 3.0197/0249 from Friday's 3.0040/0085 and fell against the yen to 3.6092/6148 from 3.5738/5792 previously.

The local unit depreciated against the pound sterling to 6.5308/5417 from 6.4849/4933 on Friday and weakened against the euro to 4.8010/8085 from 4.7408/7468 previously.
