The International Air Transport Association (IATA) looks forward to Malaysian Aviation Commission's (MAVCOM) commitment to equalise the Passenger Service Charge (PSC) between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) in 2018.
IATA, in a statement following MAVCOM's announcement on the PSC revision Monday, said it will work closely with Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) towards achieving this goal.
It said the revision in the PSC will also see some cost increases.
"The overall aim should be to minimise air travel costs for Malaysia so as to reap the full social and economic benefits of aviation," said IATA.
The aviation industry currently supported over 500,000 jobs in Malaysia and US$13 billion (US$1=RM4.19) in gross domestic product and was expected to double by 2035, it said. -- Bernama
