State and district-level disaster committee chairmen have been requested to coordinate and facilitate application for post-flood aid to ease the burden on victims.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said victims in the post-flood phase do not have the same needs as in the previous phase.

"Items such as clothing are no longer needed in some areas, this is the same for food. Victims who have gone home may still need food, some many not.

"The feedback I got when I went down to the field was that they are in need of baby formula, disposable diapers and other basic items to resume their lives," she told reporters after a visit to the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seberang Temerloh flood relief centre here today.

Therefore, she urged non-governmental organisations (NGO) and volunteers to visit the Social Welfare Department's website to see the list of items needed for the post-flood phase.

"We are grateful to NGOs for collecting donations and sending the items. If it's possible we hope they come with a complete package because the logistics facilities that we have are specifically used to manage victims at relief centres," she said.

She added that the Deputy Prime Minister is also expected to hold a post-mortem soon to evaluate any shortcomings in tackling the disaster.

Rohani said her ministry will also try to table a proposal for crisis management to be revealed to the public so they better understand the procedures involved in such situations in the future.

State Women and Family Development, Communication and Multimedia Committee chairman Datuk Shahaniza Shamsuddin also joined her in the visit.
